The plant has many uses to both human and livestock.  Although not many knew, the leaves are used to enhance milk production during lactating periods of nursing human mothers.  Many livestock owners use Madre de Agua as feed alternative.  Leaves can be given to animals either fresh or dried – chopped, powdered or whole leaves depending on the type of animal being fed.  For pigs, cows, carabaos, and goats, it is recommended that they be fed with whole fresh leaves.  For chickens and ducks, chopped or crushed leaves are recommended
Studies show that the crude protein of Madre de Agua averages from 22%-25%, it is indeed high enough to even make it as an additive to enhance nutritive values of commercial feeds.  Feeding livestock with crushed or powdered leaves in addition to commercial feeds enable livestock to produce higher quantity and quality meat, eggs, or offspring.
